Review of the 2010 Philadelphia Eagles

          http://images.teamtalk.com/09/01/800x600/Asante-Samuel-Philadelphia-Eagles_1765931.jpg

A surprise came on Easter Sunday, when the team traded quarterback Donovan McNabb to their division rival Washington Redskins for a second-round (37th overall) pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, and a third- or fourth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Kevin Kolb was named team's starting quarterback.
The Kolb era did not begin on a positive note as the Eagles donned their throwback kelly green jerseys and hosted the Green Bay Packers in their opening season as both teams performed poorly in the first half, although that was partially because of weather conditions and damaged turf in Lincoln Financial Field. Kolb was thrown to the ground by Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and was forced to sit out the game after it was determined that he suffered a concussion. Five other Packers and Eagles players were also injured in the game. Michael Vick replaced Kolb, but the Packers ended up winning the game, 27-20.
With Vick taking over as starter, the Eagles traveled and defeated the Detroit Lions 35-32 in week 2 with Vick's impressive performance in the team's offense. Although Kolb was presumed to be the starter after he recovered from injury, Andy Reid named Vick as the starting quarterback instead. The team then traveled to Jacksonville. Vick scored four touchdowns (three passing and one rushing) and no interceptions in a 28-3 rout of the Jaguars.

Week 4 saw the return of McNabb to Philadelphia. He was generally given a warm reception, and the Redskins got a touchdown early in the first quarter. After that, both offenses sputtered and the Eagles had to settle for two field goals. But things rapidly fell apart when Vick was injured late in the first quarter with chest and rib injuries he suffered when two Redskins defensive backs crushed him from both sides while running near to the endzone. Kolb was once again brought out as starter, but delivered an uninspired performance. He did manage a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. A two-point conversion attempt after the touchdown failed, and Washington won 16-12. Afterward, Vick was diagnosed with cracked cartilage and forced to sit out at least one game.

With Kolb starting, the Eagles headed to San Francisco for a Sunday Night Football match against the 0-4 49ers. Kolb passed for 253 yards and one touchdown to lead his team to a 27-24 victory. Philadelphia won its first home game in week 6 by overpowering the Falcons 31-17. Kolb continued to improve, passing for 326 yards, three touchdown passes, and one interception. However, he was not able to sustain this momentum in the week 8 game against Tennessee, throwing two interceptions and only one touchdown. The Eagles lost 37-19 to enter their bye week at 3-3 and once again Vick was brought out as starter prior to hosting Indianapolis in week 10. This game proved an intense, highly physical contest as Vick scored two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing) and Philadelphia overcame stubborn resistance by the Colts to win 27-24. Afterwards, the Eagles headed to Washington, where, for the second year in a row, they faced the Redskins on Monday Night Football. Philadelphia quickly marched out to two touchdowns in the first quarter, putting them up at 14-0 within five minutes. By the second quarter, they had scored another two, leading by 28 points. Four more touchdowns followed in a 59-28 blowout of Washington. All in all, there were eight (four passing, three rushing, and one interception return), six of which were from Michael Vick, who had 333 passing and 80 rushing yards for one of the finest performances of his career.

For the third season in a row, the Eagles traveled to Chicago, a team that Michael Vick had a career 0-4 record against. This time would be no different as the Bears' defense slowed him down to win 31-26. Vick also threw his first interception of the season. The Eagles rebounded with a Thursday game against Houston. Despite winning 34-24, Philadelphia's defense turned in a relatively mediocre performance, which may have had to do with the fact that the team had played four games in a 17-day stretch.
On Sunday Night in Week 15, the Eagles headed to Dallas for a game with their arch-rivals. However, the Cowboys were a considerably weaker team than when they defeated Philadelphia three times in 2009. Their QB Tony Romo was out of commission from an injury, they had had their head coach Wade Phillips fired halfway through the season, and they were barely clinging to life at 4-9. Michael Vick delivered an average performance, although one of the game's highlights was a 90-yard TD pass to Desean Jackson. Although Andy Reid had gained a reputation as a pass-happy coach, the Eagles' scoring was mainly based on run plays and long field goals. Despite a close game, they prevailed 30-27 and eliminated Dallas from playoff contention.

In Week 15, the Eagles beat New York in a shocking upset by overcoming a 21-point deficit in the second half. In the closing seconds of the game, Desean Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown to win 38-31. After locking up their first division title in four years, the Eagles played a surprisingly bad game against Minnesota and lost. The team lost a meaningless season ender against Dallas before preparing to host Green Bay again in the wild card round of the playoffs.

Michael Vick before and after

                                                    http://birdsfan.com/images/vick-falcons.jpg

In August 2007, hours after Vick pleaded guilty to federal charges in the Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting investigation, the NFL suspended him indefinitely without pay. After his release from prison, Vick was mentored by former Colts coach Tony Dungy. On August 13, 2009, Vick signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He earned $1.6 million, of which no amount was guaranteed. The contract contained a team option for the 2010 season worth $5 million.

Since his return Michael Vick has been putting up better career statistics then he has ever done before. Before his arrest his satus looked like this.

When he came back into the nfl he did start right away. In his second year back he battled Kevin Kolb for starter but lost. But kolb got hurt in the first game and Vick took over. He proved to the coaching staff why he should remain the starter and he did. this is what his status looks like now.

Micahel Vick still remained the great player he always was but, he became a better person and better player all around.

Eagles and Giants rivial

In this blog i will be doing a interview with my english teacher. I will be asking her questions about her feelings on the Giants and Eagles rivial. This will be a interview were a die heart eagles fan (me) will ask the Giants fan (ms persen) some questions.

Richard: Why do you hate the Eagles so much?
Ms. Persen: although i am a giants fan, i am first and fore most a football fan. It is not a question of hating the eagles because they lack skill it is a matter of being in the same division and threatening the chances of the giants making it to the playoffs.

Richard: Why do you like the Giants?
Ms Persen: The day that i could speak my first wordwas the day my father taught me everything he knew about football. Growing up in NY it was natural that my family were giant fans with the occasional jets fans thrown in.

Richard: Have you ever been to a Giants game.
Ms Persen: I have been too three giants games before and feel that it is not enough. i tried to go this season but we did not play any Florida teams.

Richard: why are Giants fans afraid to come to Eagles games in Philly?
Ms Persen: Afraid! ? ha! There is definately a rivalary going on there but thats what makes it fun! I do not believe any New Yorker would be afraid to go to Philadelphia.

Richard: Why cant the Giants Beat the Eagles?
Ms Persen: The giants have beat the Eagles and will again. These are two very strong teams in the same divison, the competion infierce.

Richard: Who do you think is better Desean Jackson or your whole punting team?
Ms Persen: Why do you ask? Because of one lucky, but dirty onside kick?

Richard: Did you cry when the eagles came back and won that game?
Ms Persen: I didnt cry, but i was very disappointed with my team and wonder how they could let it happen.

Richard: Why is your defense so good but yet they play like GARBAGE?
Ms Persen: Garbage? we practically retired 5 quaterbacks with the amount of sacks we had. Romo to drop a name.

Richard: Do you think you need a new head coach?
Ms Persen: I do not believe we need a new coach. coughlin calls it like he sees them. Quick with the eye and quick with the redflag!

Richard: Dont you just love to hate Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles?
Ms Persen: hate is a very strong word. i believe my beef is because they are in the same division. The Eagles are a great team and will remain a worthly obstacle for the Giants.

Review on the Philadelphia Eagles

The philadelphia eagles finished the 2010 season with a record of 10-6. they had a average season. The eagles made it to the wild card but lost to the superbowl champs the greenbay packers. The eagles finished in the top 10 in every caterogry on offense. They were 3rd in points, 2nd in yards per game, 9th in passing yards and 5th in rushing per game.

In week one the eagles played the greenbay packers and lost 27-20. Thats the week Michael Vick took over as starter. In week two they played the lions and won 35-32. Week three they played the jaguars and won 28-3. In week four vick got hurt and they lost to the redskins 17-12. in week five the eagles played the 49ers and won 27-24. Week six they played the falcons and won 37-17. In week seven they played the titans but lost 37-19. The eagles didnt play in week eight, they were on a bye week and gave Vick time to heal. In week 9 the eagles came off a bad lost and beat the colts 26-24. Week ten was the best game ever with a outstanding win over the redskins 59-28. In week 11 they beat the sorry giants 27-17. Week 12 they lost to the bears 31-26. Week 13 they beat the texans 34-24. Week 14 they beat the cowboys 30-27. Week 15 was the best win in eagles history with the best comeback ever beating the giants 38-31. Eagles lost to the vikings in week 16 24-14. And finally lost to dallas in week 17 14-13.

The eagles had a ok season. It could have been better that it turned out to be. Hopefully next year the eagles get a defense to help out the outstanding offense.

Review of the return of vick in the 2010 season as starter

http://www.tsn.ca/Story/Image.aspx?path=http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/2010/11/10/vick1_62576.jpg&width=430&height=300

The Philadelphia Eagles had a season that was unforgettable for Michael Vick. At the beginning of the season Kevin Kolb was named the starting quarterback. But in week one verse the Green bay Packers Kevin got hurt in the 2nd quarter. Michael Vick took over and proved why he should have been the started. From that point on Michael was the starter quarterback.

Michael Vick led the eagles to a record of 10-6. He led them to the playoffs but lost to the Suberbowl champs the Greenbay packers. Also the eagles were ranked in the top 10 in every category on offense. He showed everyone that the eagles made the right decision in traded Donavan McNabb.

Vick was in his final year of his contract. But the eagles put the franchise tag in him at the end of the season. They believe Vick is the right decision instead of having Kevin kolb start. I think he will help the eagles win a superbowl or two before he retires. The Philadelphia eagles are making the right decision.

How To Play Football

Football is a pretty simple sport to play. Durning playing time each team needs to have 11 players on the field. The team with the ball is the offense. The team trying to stop the offense from moving the ball or scoring is the defense. The offense has four play to gain ten yards. If the offense doesnt gain ten yards by then it is a turnovers on down. Unless they decide to punt the ball on 4th down or kick a field goal if there in range.

In football there is 3 different ways in scoring. You can score a touchdown which the ball has to go past the goaline in the direction your going. a touchdown eqauls 6 points. after a touchdown you have to kick a field goal or go for a two point conversion. You can kick a field goal which equals 3 points. finally you can get a safety which equals two points.

A game consist of 15 minute quaters. There is four quaters in a whole game. After 2 quaters there is a halftime which is about 12 minutes for the teams to take a break and commuicate. If the game is tied after the 4th quater then the teams go to a overtime which is 15 mintues. The first team to score wins. But if either team scores it ends in a tie. well thats pretty much the basics you need to know on how to play. If there is any questions comment and i will answer ur question.
